The heat pipe radiator is composed of sealing pipe, imbibition wick and steam passage.The imbibition wick is surrounded by the wall of the sealing tube and impregnated with a saturated liquid which can volatilize.The liquid can be distilled water or ammonia, methanol or acetone.Heat pipe radiators filled with ammonia, methanol, acetone and other liquids still have good heat dissipation ability at low temperature.
When the heat pipe radiator is running, the heat is generated when its evaporating section absorbs the heat source (power semiconductor device, etc.) and makes the liquid in the pipette boil into steam.The heated steam moves from the evaporating section of the heat pipe radiator to its cooling section. When the steam passes the heat to the cooling section, the steam condenses into a liquid.The condensed liquid is then returned to the evaporating section through the capillarity of the pipe-wall wick, thus repeating the cycle for continuous cooling.
The heat pipe radiator is a kind of high efficiency cooling device, it has the unique cooling characteristic.That is, it has a high thermal conductivity, and the temperature distribution along the axial direction between the evaporation section and the cooling section is uniform and basically equal.
